This course is designed as an introduction to basic accounting principles and practices. Students get practical experience in preparing business ledgers, journals, and financial statements. Students are introduced to the use of the computer to complete various business statements.

130 ACCOUNTING II

This course is designed to give students a basic foundation in accounting concepts and procedures. Students learn to maintain accounting journals, ledgers, worksheets, and financial statements and to understand a systems approach. Students use spreadsheets to complete financial statements, analyze future business trends, and examine case studies.

Students study common legal principles and analyze the relationship between ethics and the law. Students will develop an understanding of the court system, contract personal law in relation to legal situation which they may face as young women or in later life. Students will learn about the law concerning marriage, divorce, custody and support of children, as well as problems in our society concerning drugs and domestic violence. This course is offered during the 2012-2013 school year.

Students develop skills in the electronic procedures of producing and editing publications. Students will create, format, illustrate, design, edit/revise, and print publications. They enhance their decision-making skills as they work cooperatively to design documents for academic, personal, and business purposes.

ADV. COMPUTER APPLICATIONS

This course covers the basic concepts of networked microcomputers including the basics of file management on local and remote computers, electronic mail, Internet browsers, and web page development. Students are also exposed to applications used in problem solving, communication, and making informed decisions, including word processors, presentation software, electronic spreadsheets, and databases. The characteristics of computer hardware and software used in implementing various applications are considered. Students will develop skills in utilizing applications that run on familiar computer platforms. Students refine computer skills using professional quality web design tools to complete personalized projects such as a simple Web page. Topics covered include basic HTML programming and use of Web page design software. They learn to evaluate web design, web etiquette and development.

This course may be taken for 3 college credits from University of Missouri St. Louis.

127 MARKETING

This course is designed with an emphasis on marketing and business fundamentals, human relations, product/service advertising, purchasing, pricing, and selling. Students are introduced to marketing strategy, product development, and e-commerce in our global economy. This course will be offered during the 2011-2012 school year.
