700 PHYSICAL EDUCATION

This is designed to expose students to a variety of movement activities. These activities include individual and team sports, non-competitive games, aerobic exercise, yoga, pilates, fitness walking, weight training, and self-defense. Units in team sports include volleyball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, floor hockey, team handball and flag football.

702 HEALTH EDUCATION

½ CR.              2 LEVELS                   So.

This course gives students the opportunity to acquire accurate health information and to develop healthy attitudes and behavior patterns. The curriculum focuses on strengthening the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the high school student.

707 PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

¼ CR.              1 LEVEL                     So./Jr./Sr.

This semester course offers each student an opportunity to increase individual strength in a safe and knowledgeable manner. Proper weight lifting techniques and familiarity with the muscles and their functions are emphasized. Students will evaluate current levels of strength, set goals, and design a workout to achieve those goals.

711 FIRST AID

¼ CR.              1 LEVEL                     So./Jr./Sr.

This course is designed to acquaint the student with procedures necessary when assisting victims of accidents or sudden illness needing emergency treatment. Units covered include First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. In addition the American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED training is included in this class. It does not fulfill the active PE requirement and is offered during the second semester.

715 AEROBICS/TAE-BO

¼ CR.              1 LEVEL                     So./Jr./Sr.

This course includes exercise designed to strengthen the heart and lungs by increasing the efficiency of oxygen intake. Both high and low impact workouts are included.

718 TEAM SPORTS

¼ CR.              1 LEVEL                     Jr./Sr.

Students enrolled in Team Sports are expected to develop health-related fitness and an appreciation for teamwork and fair play. Unites include volleyball, basketball, soccer, football, lacrosse, floor hockey and team handball.

720 RECRETIONAL ACTIVITIES

¼ CR.              1 LEVEL                     Jr./Sr.

This course will be offered for those who enjoy non-traditional sports. Students will experience a variety of indoor and outdoor leisure/recreation activities including badminton, frisbee golf, pickleball, self-defense, washers, yoga, pilates, bowling, croquet and fitness walking.
