SEA Honors Program
Mission:
The Honors Program encourages students at St. Elizabeth Academy to cultivate their
God-given strengths and potential. This is one step in their journey to
becoming independent, curious women seeking knowledge in an ever-changing and
complex world.
St. Elizabeth Academy recognizes that each person possesses a unique set of
talents. With this belief in mind, a
student is able to commit to an honors level option for the subject areas in
which she excels.
Eligibility:
- 86% cumulative GPA
- 90% GPA in content area
- Department and Administration approval
- Final Decision made by Honors Program Coordinator
and Administration
A student is eligible to enter the Honors Program her freshman year, though she
can also be admitted later during the course of her studies at St. Elizabeth
Academy.
In addition to meeting the GPA requirements, an honors student must also
demonstrate a level of maturity and self-discipline that would contribute to
her success in the program as well as augment the learning atmosphere within
the classroom.
The goals of the St. Elizabeth Academy Honors Program
are:
- To hone critical thinking skills in order for
students to become self-motivated and inquisitive learners.
- To exercise higher-order thinking skills to
discover connections between academic disciplines and further their
intellectual pursuit.
- To offer a curriculum that enables students to
explore a subject area in order to maximize their God-given gifts and
challenge them intellectually.
- To apply the knowledge gained in this course of
studies to better prepare for standardized tests, college applications,
and scholarships.
- To introduce students to new opportunities, not
only pertaining to scholastics, but also through extra-curricular
activities and competitions.
